How much freedom do I have to change the layout of the site?
Your sitestudio program works by choosing a template and designing the site around that. You can change the colours of different parts of the site and replace some pictures with your own but it depends on what is allowed by the template you have chosen. To see what you can change, click on the “settings” tab at the top right of your page.
How do I add a page?
Click on the Add a page button at the top of your screen. You can select different page layouts from here (Splash page, contact us) but usually you would use Generic page.
How do I change the text on a page?
If you are looking at the page you want to edit, click on the edit button in the top right corner. If you are on a different page, click site map up at the top and it will list all of your pages. Click edit beside the one you want.
On the page that opens up there is a box which says edit paragraphs. Each paragraph will have edit and delete options. Click on edit for the one you want. (Usually there will only be one)
On the page that opens up it shows you the text of your page including the website code. To change this click on “Launch full screen rich editor” When you have made the changes you want here select save and exit on the top left. (the button looks like a disc going through a door.)
Click Next at the bottom of the page.
Click next again on the new page.
Your changes are now saved.
How do I change the colour of the website?
You can change the over all colour scheme by clicking on “Site settings” on the top of any page then click on “website colour and style”
This changes the overall colour scheme to blue, brown, grey etc.
To change individual sections of the page you need to click on the settings button on the top right of the page. About halfway down the page it says style colour 1 -5 and you can click on the button beside each one to select a new colour for it. When you are done scroll down to the bottom of the page and click done.
I’m having trouble uploading pictures:
If you are uploading pictures and they’re not showing up it may be because they are too large. Pictures taken straight from a digital camera especially are quite big and need to be resized.
You will need to resize them using a separate program until they are roughly the size you want to appear on the page then try uploading it again.
To resize a picture using Microsoft Paint:
Open up your paint program (It should be in the “Accessories” section of your start menu)
Open the picture you want to resize.
Click on “Image” then on Stretch/Skew.
Resize the image to Horizontal 20% and Vertical 20% or whatever % looks right. Make sure you enter the same for horizontal and vertical or it won’t look the same.
Once you have the picture resized to a smaller size save it as a jpeg type file and try re uploading it.
