Transferring your Irish web address
1. Do Register.ie charge a fee for transferring domains to them?

1. Do Register.ie charge a fee for transferring domains to them?
No, we do not charge any transfer fees. We renew all domains transferred to us for 12 months from the date of transfer thus our standard annual fee applies to all domains transferred to us.
2. Do Register.ie charge a fee for transfers away from Register.ie?
No, we do not charge any transfer fees.
3. What should I check before initiating a transfer?
Before starting the transfer process please enter your domain name at www.whoislookup.ie and check the following;
1. Is the admin contact listed by the IEDR known to you or still working for your company?
2. Are you staying with your current hosting company or moving your hosting to us. If you are staying with your current hosting company make sure that you keep the same nameserver details in place for the domain before initiating the transfer.
4. What are the steps involved?
Enter the transfer request on our website www.register.ie. Fax a letter on the headed paper of the domain owner to us stating;
1. If the admin contact record at the IEDR is correct
"I hereby authorize the modification of my domain name (insert domain name here) by Register.ie" Hand signed by the admin contact
2. If the admin contact record at the IEDR is not correct
"I hereby certify that (insert old admin contact's name) is no longer emploed by us. I, (insert new admin contact's name) will now serve as admin contact for the domain name (insert domain name here)
As admin contact I authorize the modification of my domain name by Register.ie"

If you have specified your own name servers please make sure that the zones for the domain are correctly set up(see Nameserver FAQ). If you have specified our nameservers we will take care of it.
5. Once I have initiated the transfer on your site how long will the transfer take?
It depends on how quickly you fax the correct Modification letter to us. Once we have that we submit the change to the IEDR and they typically process the change within 48 hours.
