Changing the plan a domain is in in your reseller account

When changing plans it is important to note whether the plan is windows or linux based.

Changing from windows to linux based or vice versa

A change from windows to linux involves moving from one of our servers to another so you will need to delete it from the plan it is currently on and recreate it on the new one.

As there will be a change of IP address involved it is a good idea to cordinate this change with our technicians as they can reduce ttl on the records and so reduce the downtime involved to about ten minutes. (ttl = time to live of your dns records, normally this is set to 24 hours but it can be reduced)

Reducing the ttl takes roughly 24 hours. They can also check the DNS to make sure no duplicate records have been created.

Changing plan on the same server

If you are switching from one windows based plan to another or from one linux based plan to another you can do so from within the control panel:

To switch to a different plan it needs to be in the same plan group. You can group plans together by clicking on plan groups on the sidebar at the left. Please note that groups should be linux or windows only, not a mix of the two.

When you want to change the domain into the new plan you will first need to go to the plans section.

Beside the plan you are switching to there is an access button. Click on this.

Put a tick beside the plan you are switching from and submit the changes.

(This allows access to the new plan for domains in the original plan. If you give your clients access to the control panels you might want to untick that again afterwards so they can't move plan themselves by accident )

Then log into the account you want to move;

1. Select Quick Access in the Account menu.

2. Click the Change icon next to your plan name.

3. Select your new plan and click Submit

Your account should now be moved into the new plan.
