1. I want to cancel the application for my domain name, what is the procedure?

As soon as an application is entered successfully on our website it becomes a live application. It is not possible to un-register/modify a domain name application on our system. If your application is unsuccessful, withdrawn by you or lapses, your .ie registration fee will be refunded less a cancellation fee of €25(includes VAT).

2. I have applied for the wrong form of my name or the name I want can't supported by my documents so I want to change and apply for another domain name.

As soon as an application is entered successfully on our website it becomes a live application. It is not possible to un-register/modify a domain name application on our system. If your application is unsuccessful, withdrawn by you or lapses, your .ie registration fee will be refunded less a cancellation fee of €25(includes VAT). Once the application has been cancelled you can then submit a new application for the correct domain name.

3. Why do I have to pay an Administration fee if I cancel?

The reason we have an administration fee is because before you withdrew your application our company had to;

1. Print out your order and prepare a file for it.

2. Assess which documentation would be required to support the application.

3. Compose a bespoke e-mail to yourself reflecting our assessment of what would be required.

4. Send this e-mail to you.

5. Upon your cancellation request we had to withdraw the file and terminate the application from our database.

We highlight in our terms and conditions the fact that any cancelled application is subject to an administration fee.

4. What happens if I don't renew my domain in time?

If payment is not received by the renewal date your domain lapses and service is suspended. If it is not renewed within one month your domain is deleted by the Registry.

5. Can I re-register my domain name if it has been deleted?

Yes, you can re-register your domain with the IEDR after a short period has elapsed.

6. How much is it to renew my domain?

The annual renewal fee is the same as the initial registration fee.

7. Is it an annual fee?

Yes, you must pay to renew you domain name each year. All domain registries charge agents such as ourselves an annual fee for each domain held on their records thus we must charge our end clients in turn.

8. Can I register a .ie for more than one year?

Yes, you can register your .ie domain up to a maximum of 10 years.

9. Why are .ie domain name so expensive compared to .com's?

.ie domains are regulated by the Irish Domain Registry. They set the price structure for .ie domains. At the moment the wholesale price for a .ie is approximately four times the wholesale cost of a .com

10. The Irish Domain Registry keeps sending me bills for my domain name even though I have paid Register.ie for it?

This occasionally happens where the IEDR have failed to change the billing filed after a domain transfer or incorrectly recorded the entry in the billing field when the domain was first registered. To correct this please contact the Irish Domain Registry directly and ask them to correct their records.
